Woodland Studios Chair

Jack White was tasked by Woodland Studios owners Gillian Welch and David Rawlings to bring back to life an old office chair that was found in their historic studio. Gillian provided a beautifully soft orange fabric and Mr. White set to work.

Most of the creative elements were copied from the original patterns. The cushions have sewn seams and Mr. White chose to add larger buttons to them than had been in the original design. The foam showcases Jack’s new penchant for using memory foam in furniture instead of latex foam or standard foam upholstery cushioning. Amazingly the piece contained a metal “Woodland Sound Studios” inventory badge on the underside which was left intact.

This piece was done at the end of 2014.
